Ten reasons 1970 was a bad year for music

Each to their own of course, but had I been able to write a list of musical misadventures, I'd have started with:

  1. Hendrix died of a drug overdose
  2. not to be outdone, so to did Jopin
  3. The Beatles officially split up
  4. that git Beck was born
  5. as was Mariah Carey
  6. Michael Jackson's vocabulary peaked with ABC
  7. David Cassidy obscurely sang I think I Love You with the Partridges
  8. The Carpenters got Close to You
  9. James Taylor got a start, and is apparently still touring, with Fire and Rain
  10. and Robert Altman declared that Suicide is Painless

It was Rob's teenage son who wrote the lyrics to the MASH theme. Yes I watched all the features on the MASH DVD . . .

I didn't know that. That'd cause a father some concern!

I've noticed all the discount box sets of MASH, have been tempted but am hanging out for the Soprano's latest series...

It's true about Altman's son...by the way, top songs of 1970 include the hauntingly beautiful, Bridge of Troubled Waters, the classic footstomping All Right Now by Free, and the Norman Greenbaum's positively trippySpirit in the Sky. So, 1970 wasn't such a bad year for music.

Tell me you're being ironic?

There's nout wrong with any of those songs!

Come on now crasster; they're fine, if you're a baby boomer!

Hey crasster, you know I'm half joking right? Though I don't rate Spirit in the Sky - too many damn NYE parties with drunken parents from my earlier life.

Also, Diana Ross left the Supremes to become an untouchable Diva.

Given her ahem, relationship with Michael Jackson, could the two events be related?
